To set off on a bicycle camping tour for anything over a week needs a little planning. A good sturdy bike fitted with strong pannier racks to carry good waterproof panniers to hold all the gear that is going to be required. Touring in Scotland or any other mountainous terrain in England or Wales, one is most likely to encounter a variety of weather conditions. By the time I had ventured on this my second Highland tour I was a serious cyclist, and this picture of my "made to measure" hand built Mercian touring bike was and is my pride and joy.
